Oh yes, iron supplements can cause a bit of nausea.  What about having her take it right before bed time.  While pregnant, I took iron and prenatal vit.'s and had nausea.  I was told to switch to taking it before bed and this pretty much solved the problem.  Also, you could give her a piece of chrystalized ginger to suck on with it (supposedly anti nausea).  good luck and hope it does the trick.

Also, are you doing an iron rich diet.  There are things kids will eat that can help.  I make a smoothie for my son and put spinich in it.  He has NO idea---  I chop it and then drop it into the blender where it gets undetectable.  My recipe:  frozen strawberries, apple juice to cover strawberries, a bit of sugar and cinnoman, and a banana ---- and the secret ingredients, spinach and carrot juice (no one has ever figured it out and all kids I serve this to love it.).

I agree with all Specialmom says.  My son was pretty sick for a long time, so we also had issues with nutrition for the simple fact he was holding very little down.  In addition to the things she says - which is excellent advice - you might also want to try a consult with a Pediatric Dietician.  I've done that and been provided with some excellent "kid friendly" recipes that are super nutritious, and in our case, high calorie.  One example is black bean brownies. My son loves them and they are so good for him.  Give it a shot, I have found the one I am working with to be incredibly helpful.  All the best to you.

But of course - I'd love to!!  Ryder loves these.  I know, they have sugar too, but as he doesn't have a lot in his diet I didn't worry to much about it.  DH and I actually like these  a lot too..lol.  The recipe didn't say what the iron content in these is, but given the black beans, I would assume it's fairly decent amount?  Let me know what you think ok?

1 -15 ounce can black beans drained and well rinsed
3 Large eggs
3 Tblsp canola oil
3/4 c. sugar
1/2 c. unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1/2 tsp. baking powder
pinch of salt
3/4 c. semi sweet chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350 F. Coat an 8X8 pan with nonstick cooking spray.

Place black beans in a food processor or electric mixer and process until smooth and creamy.  Add the eggs, oil, sugar, cocoa powder, vanilla, baking powder and salt and process until smooth.  Add the chocolate chips and pulse a few times just until the chips are incorporated

Pour the batter into the prepared pan, smooth the top with a rubber spatula

Bake 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.  Cool and slice!
