Limited Head Control

My baby is 8 months old and his head still seems to wobble a little and his head seems to be bent down a little most of the time.  The neck muscles don't seem to be perfectly stable as could be expected for an 8 month old.  His neck has been a concern to us from the very beginning.  Initially for the first two months, he had strong preference for looking and sleeping with neck only on his left side.  This has changed since he turned about 3-4 months old, though he still continues to have some preference for looking on the left side as compared to the right side.  I had a very long and traumatic delivery, with baby stuck in the birth canal for more than 6 hours.  Thankfully, no forceps extra were required to be used.  When baby did come, he came out too fast (as described by the doctor present).  Other facts which might be important:  he hates being on his tummy, he only recently started sitting for short durations of time, in other respects (esp. cognitively) he seems to be developing normally.

You should speak with your child's doctor to rule out any serious problems, but no matter how much he hates being on his tummy that will help him strengthen his neck muscles.
