My 16mth old losing her hair

Three months ago out shopping with my little girl sitting in the push chair I noticed a bald patch on the back of her head.(approx 3cmx2cm) I hadnt noticed this before as it is covered by the hair at the top of her crown. It seems to be getting worse (it looks more severe after bathing), but the strange thing is there is no evidence of hair loss on her mattress of a morning. There is no redness or signs of infection of any type, her skin is very soft and smooth. But it does seem to be getting worse. My gp has referred her to a dermatologist. My little girl takes a varied healthy diet. Otherwise she is well in herself and developmental wise up to date and achieving the normal milestones. I myself have an under active thyroid gland (and one of my early symptoms was thinning of the hair/hair loss and Im wondering could she have the same?

sorry to here about this. STRESSFUL.....  I as a child, about 7 years old had developed the same thing. I now am 25. I lived in a stressful situation at home and my hair started to fall out. I was tested for lupus and a whole bunch of other ****. I eventually was diagnosed with ( if i can spell it right) AllopeciaEriotta. I actually grew out of it but it is comming back as i type. stress causes this, it can be from anything. Fighting at home, not enough attention, school, worring, anger issues. You name it! The body does weird things. the white blood cells attack the hair folicals ending in bald baby butt smooth patches, that after showering or a bath look red and irritated and sometimes swollen. look this up on line, it may be something to bring up to her doctor, and then again it may have nothing to do with what is really going on. I could be Thyroid related, My son of 19 months has Congenital Hypothyroidism. Born without a Thyroid. He experiences much things that i wish i could just take away. Good luck to you and your daughter, and remember that no matter what the reason for this problem, she is still your baby even if she has bald spots.
