Need Peace of Mind...PLEASE HELP!

I have a 3 yr old little girl who has been experiencing extreme mucus and coughing spells for over a month. It all began on January 9th when she came down with the common cold. It lasted about 10 days and she was back to normal. The only thing is that a few days later she developed a deep dry cough that would not let up.

I looked online for home remedies to cure a cough in children and the Tea & Honey did help "some". The cough went away and then....She woke up with a runny nose. It started out thin & clear. Now it has become green and thick in her nose and she coughs it up as well. Since January 23rd she has had a runny nose NON-STOP. She is averaging a Box of Kleenex every 2 days!!!! I took her to the Family doctor last Friday and she told me that my daughters runny nose is remnants from the cold she had last month.

I am at my wits end, her teachers are growing concerned and so am I! What could this possibly be? How could her nose still be producing Mucus one month after catching a cold ..and Green Mucus at that!!!! Please someone give me advice, I am extremely concerned!!

I believe it maybe with anti biotics....many children are coughing this year and adults it could be a virus that is going round .do some research in your area ..and maybe ask another doctor

Thank you for your response.
No, she does not spend a great deal of time outside. She only gets on the bus to go to school and then back home again. It's been extremely cold out so I don't let her go out much. I understand that no one on this board can diagnose my child's condition, but I resent very much that my own child's doctor could not give me a definition or diagnosis as to what is going on with my daughter. As I am typing this message, I notice that her voice has become rattly. I will search now for another doctor to take her in to see next week. In the mean time how is a Sinus Infection treated?

This sounds like an allergy problem ,there has also  been many coughing virus round this past year, what you describe sounds environmental . It  sounds like a sinus infection and perhaps another doctor can help if this one you see does not know..Is she outside a lot ?
