Pediatric Hashimoto's
Hi Dr,
My son was diagnosed with Hashimoto's last year. He is 10 years old.
His endocrinologist is monitoring his thyroid levels, so far they are stable.
She said when they begin to change she'll prescribe synthroid.  My questions are,
is he destined to be overweight? Will gluten free diet and the elimination of pasta and
breads abate this condition? He is very active but I can see his motivations waning.
He is incredibly talented as an athlete but his energy levels are affecting him.  It so sad.
Is there reason to hope that if we watch his diet, give him the proper meds, that he'll
keep his weight down and even lose the symptoms all together??
Thanks so much,
Sue
