Please help my Down's Syndrome son by answering this question

Cannot find an answer from Doctors so asking here, why my 7 year old Down's Syndrome son just stops walking? This is @ least the 4th time in his life he has done this. When he stops, he then resumes crawling but mostly just sits and wants to be carried and then as fast as this happens he is walking again? He has had x-rays w/ no abnormalities, he's not doing it for attention because he demands attention and doesn't need or think this way to attract the attention, so something real is going on with him. It is frustrating since he doesn't talk in any form to tell me what hurts... so how can I help him? Thank you for any advise....
