Premature Adrenarchy/hirtuism?

by JP597, Apr 24, 2009 01:34PM
My 12 year old daughter was diagnosed with premature adrenarchy at about age 6.  She had early pubic hair and a blood test show elevated male hormones.  Her bone age was very slightly elevated but I was told it was not a concern.
The dr. noticed at that time the amt of body hair my daughter had - back of neck and legs at the time.  She had an extremely thick head of hair now, hair on back of neck down to her back, chest hair above and between her breast that goes down to her pubic hair.  Hair on her feet and arms, as well as facial hair.  She did start her period about 6 months ago and although she has a heavy flow things seem to be pretty normal.  She has really bad facial acne, some back acne and severe dandruff.  She is about 5'4'' and has a size 10 shoe sz.  She is thin except around her hips and belly where she stores fat.  She is a beautiful preteen that is suffering because of all these issues.  It is very expensive for us to go to a specialist so I am trying to not take her unless neccessary.  Can you help me determine what might cause these issues and which type of dr. we should see?  Our family care physician didn't even know what premature adrenarchy was.  thank you.

I am not a doctor but i am suffering from similar stuff. I just researched a bit an found that drinking spearmint tea and lessen mild hirtuism. But i have no idea whether the state described by you (similar to mine) comes under mild hirtuism. I am planning to take the same.
