Referral to a kidney specialist from pcp

My 4 year old has had 1 severe UTI with proteus Microbalisis bacteria.  Here urine had protein 2+ and the normal abnormalities for UTI.  Blood work showed Bun level within limits, Creatinine level within limits but her ratio was 36.  We had VCUG test donw which which was negative for reflux.  2 weeks later urine test showed all normal but blood still showed BUN level limits normal and Creatinine levels normal which still leads to BUN/Creatinine ratio 38-High.  PCP wants us to go to Kidney specialist due to ratio beind high and UTI with Proteus bacteria.  Is a kidney specialist the place where we should go or in a different direction?   Any advice appreciated, Concerned parent
