Severe Myopia

My five year old son has been diagnosed with severe myopia; for about a year we've been patching and prescribed contacts for the rt eye only.Recently, after our last eye doctor's visit I was told to stop patching and my son was also taking off the glasses completly. Due to the fact; that my son's vision was not improving at all. However; I don't want to give up on my son completely. Therefore; I am getting a second opinion this Tuesday. I would like to know if I am making the right decision for my him. After all, I am his only advocate.
