Spitting up to much

Spitting up to much

My daughter, Mikayla, born on 3/31/2009.

Family history:
Diabetes (My mom’s mom and my cousin)
Lactose intolerant (My mom’s sister and Mikayla’s cousin on her dad’s side)
Colic (Mikayla’s cousin on her dad’s side)
A liver that has heals very slowly (my dad and his dad) (other family members unknown)

I thought Mikayla spitting up was normal until she was about 6 weeks old. (we fed her 3-4oz every 3 hours) She spit up (what looked to be) the entire bottle I had just fed her within 15 minutes. Dr. Linda said she thinks it is a tummy bug and to feed her Pedi-light only for three days. We did and after that the spit up was still more than before but we didn’t see her spit up the entire bottle again  so we thought the bug was gone.

We changed doctors because of the insurance so now we have Dr. Glenna. She was 10 weeks old when Mikayla spit up was what looked to be very watery with white spots about two hours after feeding her. (we fed her 5oz every 3 hours) So we took her to the new doctor. She said to give her 1 ml of “AXID 15mg/ml SOL BRAINTREE” every 12 hours for acid reflux and to reduce to feeding her 4oz every 4 hours. About half way through the bottle we spilled it all and we are not able to get more until the month is up.

With the medicine:
Mikayla was constipated and the spit up looked more like the milk we had just fed her.

Without medicine:
Mikayla is not constipated and the spit up looks more like milk that has been in her tummy for the last 4 hours.

Both with and without:
She is eating 4oz every 4 hours, she wouldn’t burp at all until she was done with the bottle, had lots of gas because of it, still spitting up the same amount, and every day gets more upset that she is not get more than what we feed her. Sometimes she will get so upset about not getting more that she will start crying 1 hour before feeding time and cry her self to sleep in 30 minutes.

What can I do? What should I do? I am not sure I can take the crying much longer. I am thinking about going back to giving Mikayla whatever she wants to eat when she wants to eat.

This is what is called gastroesophageal reflux,my daughter developed it 2 weeks after birth and usually Reglan will control it. If it doesn't and they are losing weight they will do surgery to tighten the muscle around the esophagus near the stomach.
