average head circumference?

average head circumference?

i am a 19 year old male and have suffered from severe depression that has turned into a fear of going out and doing anything basically because i feel i'm constantly getting talked down on and made fun of by everyone, so here it is......
over the past 3-4 years i have had this paranoia that i am retarded, i have been called it on several occasions and cannot figure out why people say this about me, it has led me to think that my head is not of average size for my age, i have measured it and came up with 22 inches around, i also had an eating disorder and was bulemic for a while and have been recovered from it for a couple years, i feel very insecure about how thin my forehead and face is, basically i have no cheeck fat  and my face seems really narrow, this has been a persistent fear for some time now and would take any answers i could get on what this may be, i realize that you can't necessarily diagnose me with anything without running tests and meeting me in person yet hope that you can come up with something with the given information?

any help is much appreciated, thank again

The circumference of your head is not a way to diagnose mental retardation. And mostly when someone calls a person a "retard" it's just a derogatory term to make someone feel bad, not actually saying that person is retarded. Your facial appearance is most likely skinny/narrow because of your previous eating disorder. And people have all shapes and sizes of heads, and they are all perfectly normal. The more you let people see how it affects you when they talk down to you, the more they will do it. If you brush it off and pretend like it doesn't bother you, they don't get the satisfaction of seeing you get upset about it. I know this from experience and can tell you people won't care about your looks if you don't yourself. You just have to act confident, even if you aren't. good luck.
