blood in 9yr olds stool

i noticed about a couple of week s ago and again earlier this evening that there seemed to be what appeared in my 9 yr old daughters  stool ''blood'' it  did not look like the blood was in her stool but settled under the stool? she did  have a red and orange popsicle earlier this evening could that make it seem like blood and discolor stool? a few years back she was diagnosed w/ henloch schonlein purpura could this be a sign of the retur of the illness because i was told to look for blood in her urine and or stool and if blood was to be found that was a sign of kidney failure? please help and thank you

The stool needs to be tested with a guiac card, your doc can send some home with you, popsicles can indeed color stools and froot loops can too (and crayons-turquoise as we found out in our house!!!). If the blood is not mixed in the stool this makes me think more of the hsp you described, if it is streaked or underneath it may be due to a little fissure or crack in the anal tissue from previously hard stools or straining from constipation at one time, these fissures hurt and can rebleed often.
So have her seen, see if you can bring a sample (sound gross but may help the physician if they can test it)
