can eating sweat give my daughter nightmares?

by itchyface14, Oct 30, 2007 02:48AM
My daughter is a month away from 3. In my oppinon, I think she is too thin. Plenty of people try to reasure me that she isnt to thin she ist just getting taller and loosing all the baby rollls or its because she is so tall. All my friends kids around her age have little pot bellys or chunky legs....or some chunky area on them. My daughter doesnt have any fatty area at all. she is 38'' tall...35 pounds.
She loves fruit and vegys, and it is a tricky to get her to eat anythiing else. I can get her to eat peanut butter and eggs(not together)...which made me feel much better that she was getting protein. She does take a daily vitamin and drinks enough milk. She wont eat bread or most grains sometimes..crackers.  I can't even get her to eat cake. I can only get her to eat meat 4 or 5 times a week. She will eat a small burger with no bun, a tiny tiny bit of cheese, and a load of ketchup. Sometimes I can get her to eat a little tuna fish or chicken.
Her normal meal are weird combos. Fruits or vegatable is her main course she normally will have about two "sides"...a little bit of chicken, scoop of peanut butter, a few bites of cheese.
She normally has two full meals like that a day. Other then that she eats a random snack every hour or so. A snack for her could be any of the following.. 6 strawberries, an orange, a banana, 1/6th of an average sized cucumber dripped in ranch, 1 fruit yougart, a cup of peas and corn mixed, a small portion of melon, or a fruit coctail cup.
I know she isn't filling up on drinks. The only "junk' she eats is m&m's...and that isn't to often.
She isn't mimicing my eating habits thats for sure...or anyone else who may watch her for me. I am constantly offering her food and trying to get her try to other food. She will try anything I am eating.....but it's always followed with "mama I no like it". She sometimes lies to me and asks me took cook her something. I get all excited and cook it then one bite and "mamma I no like it. I gonna put it in the trash". She doesn't eat different for anyone else when they watch her and they all try to feed her different food too. Every now and then her grandpa gets her to eat feta cheese, or pita bread dipped in plain yougart that he has seasoned.
I've tired so many things and my mom has too. My mom says "if she is hungry she will eat" then only will offer her chicken by itself she won't eat it. she tell her if she eats it she can have fruit....she really just wont eat. I've tried changing her portions, the times she eats, and only giving her one thing on a plate at a time.
It is driving me crazy. I know some people are just skinny. I eat garbage and have maintained to stay at 145 lbs at 5'10...but I have and always have had meat on my bones.

I took her to the doctor, but they tell me she is on the thin side but it isn't anything to be concerned about because she isn't losing weight. They made sure I gave her vitamins and said I was doing everything I should be to encourage her to eat a varitity of foods.  I just want her to eat food with more calories and maybe more balanced. Does anyone have any suggestions at all.

oh yeah ....the days she eats m&m's she has really bad nightmares. Is that related at all? My friend told me it was, but she
was told that by someone else.

On the height and weight charts, she's about 75th percentile for height,  and 40th percentile for weight.  Normal is a "range",  and she's well within normal.

She might look a little thin to you,  but it sounds like she's healthy and this sounds like a LOT of focus on getting this child to eat - she sounds fine to me.

And yes,  chocolate can cause vivid dreams.
