cocerned for my 2year old due to carelessness of ER nurse

We took our daughter to the ER for a spiked fever of 104 the nurse there was very careless and rude acting like we just disturbed her by walking in. Any ways, my daughter is crying, feels bad and is terrified so she is not co operating very well when I helped keep her still so the nurse could fo the rectal temp. I noticed the thermometer didnt have a cover on it after she removed it from my daughters rectum and I checked the trash just incase I missed her throw it away, but there wasnt one on top of the trash, so I am fearful that she may have exposed my child to something

I am sorry that this happened.  My doctor told us not to worry unless the temp got to 106, not even to bring the child in.  But you did bring her in and you were worried.  I would not obsess over whether the thermometer was covered.  I don't think she exposed your daughter to something by the action of taking her temp rectally even if she did not cover the thermometer.
