low sodium

my friend is in the hospital with her baby who was just born on wed. well about 5 hours after he was born he started breathing very very hard so they took him to the nicu and they put him on a iv and said maybe it could be an infection well come to find out it is not an infection. and now he has low sodium so they have been giving him sodium throw iv well stopped it yesterday said all look really good and his sodium was back up well now this morning they put him back on iv and doing blood work but what can i ask them to do and do you have any suggestions for me please help....
