older child begins wetting during the day

My fiance's 8 yr. old daughter has recently begun wetting her underwear during the day and hiding them. The first time i noticed it i did not want to embarass her by telling her dad and thought she would feel more comfortable being approached by me. I asked her if she had an accident and she said no. I told her i found her underwear and they were wet and that i was concerned. and explained to her that when that happens she should come and let me know so we can properly take care of it. Not to feel embarassed or ashamed and that she would never get into trouble, accidents happen. she said it happened while she was playing. as time has passed, it has become more frequent. most noticable when she has to go to moms or coming from her moms with soiled underwear. I asked her how long she had wore the underwear this way and she said since early that morning when she was left to tend to her mothers 8mo.. old baby while the mother was sleeping. This really has alarmed me. She has never had a problem with this until just recently. Her older sister is 9 and wets the bed regularly due to some health issues. What should we do to help her with this problem?

Does her mom have a boyfriend?  Maybe the child is afraid of him.

I would get a good book from the library that they recommend for explaining good touch and bad touch.
