pencil wound

My four year old  accidentally stabbed her finger with a pencil the night before last. I could not tell if there was anything left behind so I just cleaned it and bandaged it. An hoiur ago she came and showed me and the finger is swollen and there is now an open spot on the opposite of where the original puncture happened. We have an appointment in about 4  hours but can't stand waiting so long to know what is going on!! Is this serious?

i doubt it but its going to need anti biotic cream and a dressing, as its possibly infected..the Doc may give her oral anti biotics,,If a wound happens again, get a dressing and put the otc anti biotice cream on ..its usually a help ...let us know how she is doing ..
