Is no one aware of the FDA panel tomorrow and Fri.?

Is anyone else seeking legal representation for serious complications following trans vaginal mesh implantation for POP, specific to anterior/posterior repairs, hysterectomy, etc. :  vag. erosion, bleeding, hematoma, USI, fecal incontinence, pain, infection, organ perforation, bowel evacuation disorders, discharge, re ocurrence of prolapse of one or all organs, i.e., apical collapse, procidentia, cystocele, rectocele?
An attorney who is, more to the point, a good friend of over 30 years, has referred me to a trial attorney that practices personal injury law, specializing in medical device product liability cases - filing suit against the manufactureres of the polypropylene mesh, such as American Medical Systems, Inc., who produces and sells the "Elevate" mesh kits to physicians for "correction of prolapsed pelvic organs", among other types (models) of mesh.  There are two other options:  a firm in NY & one in FL that currently have filed lawsuits for women in several states.  I have received contract offers from both to represent my horrific experience in a court of law.   Undecided as to whom I will sign with, at this time.

I applaud your choice or profession; as a former Special Olympics basketball coach (boy do I miss it!), I truly recognize the value of what you do!

I realize that there are muliple reasons why people seek compensation after complications; your's is extremely legitimate as it is with other's suffering from complications-it is so wrong to have to foot the bill for additional procedures in an attempt to balance health when all these women wanted from the get-go was to feel better-that's why they opted for surgery to begin with.

Good luck to you and bless you for what you do!

It is good to hear from someone that speaks to their favorable experience with a transvaginal mesh procedure.  It is a blessing that your decision to opt for mesh proved to be the right choice for you.

As regards the risks of proceeding with legal representation by a firm driven by the ambulance chasing mindset, I am in agreement with you. It goes without saying that, in selecting a law firm, the decision-making process must be a cautionary one and demands a thorough, investigative approach.

I do appreciate your well wishes, Sher, and your concern for my personal recovery and I recognize that you differentiated that from what you termed as "financial compensation."  Please indulge me in my becoming more personally revealing here:  my personal recovery is irrevocably linked to my ability to continue in my career as a public school educator, for the last two decades, with Special Ed. children.  It is that extreemly fulfilling and exciting work that has served to give my life meaning and has provided me with great joy and fulfillment.  I have been told frequently that I am so very fortunate to be able to say that I love my job and look forward to going to work everyday.

As the sole income earner of my household of one, without living family members, my personal recovery is essential to my ability to survive economically.  Although my expenses are unquestionably minimal, as I live entirely within my income  - on a cash only basis, with no credit cards, a 1988 paid-for auto, no revolving payments of any kind, beyond utilities -  the painful fact, that I must now face, is that my inablility to stand or walk erect is directly linked to my continued employment and that is the source of my ability to generate the income necessary to pay for my apartment rent, food, medical expenses and auto insurance.  My personal recovery is not a separate entity from my very real need to maintain my employment and thus, continue to meet my modest financial obligations.

I have a bit of down time waiting for flight home and yes I did speak at the meeting yesterday (Thursday was related to transvaginal mesh procedures, today is regarding sling procedures.) I'll be posting a copy of my speech as an article to my nonprofit site early next week.

Although I do feel transvaginal mesh procedures are of benefit to women and should remain a viable option in treatment choice (the debate at the meeting is not regarding whether or not mesh should be allowed, it was related to particular procedures in question), I also feel it is vital to listen to the voices of women suffering from mesh complications. Their input is valuable in the decision making process for ongoing and continuing mesh agenda. I listened to the voices of several women yesterday and several women today and many have reached out to me on a one-to-one basis with their personal histories and they are without a doubt horrific. The voices we don't hear are those from women who've had successful trasvaginal mesh procedures whose pelvic health is now improved and the input of data needs to be balanced. My concerns were repeat surgery, the reason I opted for mesh. I have extremely happy with my outcome.

Much needs to be done to address regulation regarding who can perform these procedures, the bulk of complications come from improper technique when planting them.
Multiple avenues of mesh concern were addressed at the meeting and there will be on-going review over the coming months regarding regulation changes.

In the meantime, yes there are multiple legal firms addressing this, I urge to to proceed with caution because many law firms are simply jumping on the ambulance chasing band-wagon mindset with thoughts of making money from their clients with little genuine concern for the women who are indeed suffering. Please do a background check of the firm you choose to make sure they are reputable.

Good luck, my concern is more for you personal recovery than for financial compensation-I feel terrrble for every woman who suffers with surgical complications.

Sherrie is going to testify in front of them...the FDA...about prolapse issues, not sure exactly what she is going to say but on her website I guess she will fill everyone in. Sorry for your problems with the mesh. I hope that you are able to get some kind of compensation for your pain and suffering, but I know that won't make what you've gone through any less terrible.
