Rectopexy, Sacral Colpopexy, And Sling -

Having surgery jan 28th.  I had a hysterectomy in 2008 and have had leakage problems for years.  A lot of pressures and pain during intercourse for awhile.  Didn't think much about til last year, got referred to urologist.he did testing and said I needed a sling for stress I continuance.  I wasn't interested since  I have had 5 addominal surgeries.

This year we saw another uro guy and he immediately said,I needed surgery and said I needed to see an uro-gynecologist..... I was like ... A WHO? Lol

So,off we went.  Great doctor.  He told me the 1st doc did the test wrong and all of this drop page didn't happen inm6mmonths... Hmmm, Anyway, after shock wore off. Of course I am having,it.  He said he will try laparoscopic, but because,of scar tissue and, adhesions, he may have to open me.  It is what it is.

_  estimate, how long is surgery?
_  he told me I should be up and around in 6 weeks.... I have had three abdominal surgeries in 18 months and am not going into this one top of my game.  What is realistic recovery?

Been stalking you all for awhile, decided to jump in for support

…Donna

Your husband is right.  Not enough education is given to us about prolapse but things are changing.   I wish you luck with with your operation and am glad you understand your healing time is both important and may well take longer than estimated

Thank you so much. I relied heavily on the site when I had my hysterectomy. The recovery was not like the doctors told me, but was right on from what I read on this website ...

I appreciate the support ....

Hi Donna
Well I know that most Urogynes say 6 weeks but most ladies say it takes more like 3 months with healing progressing in stages.
I wonder if when you had your hysterectomy that maybe they didnt suspend/support the top of your vaginal cuff, which can make prolapses more common for the future.

I am so glad you are having your op done with a Urogynecologist as they are the prolapse specialists.

No lifting anything to begin with..
Walking is OK within limits of tottering around the house to begin with and increasing as you feel able.
Sounds like you know already that the healing of your operation is just as important for long term success of your operation as the op itself.

Good luck for your surgery on the 28th and please let us know how you get on...
