Found a petition, we need 77 more votes to get true professional help on this case. How incredibly strange is this life of ours? How I just wish to be able to wake up and go outside and not have to be self conscious of myself because of how I make people uncomfortable..
Guess it's time for a huge 360 life change for me. I'm going vegan starting tomorrow. I need to get rid of this thing.. Will be an active member from now on until the end of it.
SORRY i feel I should add one last thing. Not sure if this symptom has anything to do with the PATM but anytime I eat eggs for instance I always have trailing smell in my nose that doesn't go way for at least 6-8 hours. Other foods that do this are certain meats, ranch, hummus, spicy foods.
It's like theres just a smell inside of my nose that lingers after I eat whatever food it is that I have eaten.
I hope there is something I can do because i've already spent upwards 5k on nose surgeries and the smell is still there in my nose and my breath is still awful... I'm a 20 yr old somewhat handsome college kid from Chicago like I can't believe i'm going thru this at such an early age when I should be flourishing and thriving and finding myself in this world..
Forgot to add that this problem got so bad that I even got a rhinoplasty (plastic surgery) about 3 weeks ago, in hopes that by changing what my nose looks like people will stop itching it around me. This has unfortunately not solved my problem. I also got a septoplasty to fix my deviated septum about a year ago and I was still going thru PATM around that time and it also didn't help with the symptoms.
Thanks you and I hope we can find a cure from this dreaded thing.. I just wanna be normal.
Hi guys. I just googled the question 'why do people itch their nose around me' about 2 hrs about and upon doing lots of research i found this group!!
I guess i have this awful dreaded disease called PATM. It all starts about 2 years ago when I noticed a few people itch above their lip (mustache area) and I thought nothing of it. Gradually more and more people begun to itch their nose when they would have conversations with me. It's gotten to the point where every time I go out I will be micro analyzing everyone because I think my presence makes people uncomfortable. Even if someone isn't around my perimeter but say.. across the room from me in a college classroom I still can catch a glimpse of them itching their nose and looking at me, giving me a weird look. This thing has honestly begun to ruin my life and self esteem a lot. I am beginning to feel like I'm never going to have a romantic relationship because of this awful thing. I don't have a fish smell thats coming from my pores thanks god. But I do have an extremely dry nose and even more dry mouth. I am looking for ANY advice at all from you guys. Please. If I had the choice i'd cut off a limb just to cure this forever. It's so annoying I can't even begin to describe it to others because they all think i've gone completely bonkers! I eat healthy and exercise very frequently. I'll take any advice you guys have in terms of alleviating the symptoms, and if I find anything i'll report it here!
I think I will go buy oregano oil capsules with p73 written on the label tomorrow because I noticed some people talking about it. Might also buy some charcoal / chlorophyll capsules. Although i'm not sure if its a good idea to take all of those at once. If anyone wants to message me to have a more private conversation i'm free and willing to talk to all of you. So crazy that there's more people that have this... I just want people to stop itching themselves around me!!! I will do anything that will make this go away, i'm serious.
Thank you...
wow - ok thanx for the updated info regarding resistant starch !
More study/research for me is needed, will do !
In response to resistant starch, the article that I posted last week says to avoid/limit resistant starches which contribute to gas production via bacteria digestion..which can contribute to symptoms of gerd etc. The only reason I posted that article was that an overwhelming number of people (since the forum was created) reported to have gerd. I assume there is a connection to patm however I am uncertain whether it is related to carbohydrate malabsorption. I also remember some patmers reported a low carb diet helped to reduce there patm symptoms.
To add in regards to being on a vegetarian diet. I would say I have been following a vegetarian diet practically all my life (at least 90%) with an occasional time here or there having a meat/poultry dish. Currently I don't think being on a veg diet makes much difference but I could be wrong. I remember one time I planned to see my doctor and I purposely had McD's for lunch but my patm did not get worse or stronger when I went in to see her. Maybe I didn't give time to fully digest my meal?? who knows!
