My friend just had a Prolactinoma Pituitary Tumor removed on 8/8/2008. The surgeons experienced some difficulties while removing the tumor; the surgery lasted 5 hours and my friend lost a lot of blood. thats a very unfortunate story. All tumors are different depending upon what substances they produce and the structures that the tumor grows around. These factors determine the symptoms. It seems feasible that this particular tumor could return that quickly. Hopefully, her doctors can control the swelling and eliminate her symptoms. Its difficult for me to comment on the question about the life threatening nature of the procedure without knowing any of the medical details but anytime someone requires surgery, its a serious problem. Good luck and God Bless
