Brown crusty/sticky feline nipples

We had a flea epidemic last summer.... it took a while to get under control, but we did, and it included shaving both cats as we couldn't get the dead fleas out of their fur.  The older cat, Precious, has since had a brown sticky crustiness forming on her nipples that every once in a while needs to be removed.  A couple of her nipples don't even seem to be there anymore.... but not in an injury way.  She doesn't seem to be in pain or even bothered by this.  Should I be worried?  Is their a known reason, cause, or name for this?

Sometimes cats and dogs have inverted nipples, which tend to accumulate skin debris and oils within the small crevices, and this may be the debris that you are seeing. Your veterinarian can examine her and answer your question more fully, and it looks like its time for her yearly physical and senior labwork, so this is a good time to take her in.
