Teething

Hi ladies,

My little boy is now 5mths and is teething very badly and has been since he was 10wks!!

He hasn't been sleeping through anyway but now when he wakes he's in such pain!!

Does anyone know of anything that would help?? I've tried everything bonjela, ambesol, neurofen etc and he won't chew on the teether rings as he's still a bit small to hold them completely!!

I'm just so exhausted :-(

Any advice would be great!!

My 3 month old is teething also, I put her paci in the freezer and give it to her when she gets fussy, I switch it out so there is always one in the freezer it really helps her and she doesn't have to hold anything.  Some of my friends recommended teething bags (not sure if that's what they are called) it looks like a pacifier but it has a mesh bag instead of a nipple, you put frozen fruit in it so they can cool their gums.  My friends suggested frozen banana or apple (no skin).  I haven't tried it yet she's still to young to give fruit all the time but I did buy some for when she's older, they are pretty cheap.  Also my friends said hylands teething tabs, dissolved in water, again I haven't tried these mainly because I went to target and they were sold out, I guess that's a good sign though.  I'm sure the tomato would work but be careful if your baby hasn't had tomato yet it's pretty high on the food allergy list.  good luck, hopefully the tooth pops up soon :)

i know this sounds like an old wives tale but my mom told me my grandma and apparently generations before her used ripe tomato to ripen the gums and make teeth come in faster... idk if it works or not because im lucky enough to have a very calm teether... when she does get kind of fuzzy she chews on her teether, anyways... i guess the tomato would be worth a try and its natural so no meds to be nervous about...
hope he feels better soo,...

I agree. Lexi chews on cool washrags like they're going out of style. She's even taken to biting her paci. We don't use any meds for her teething as I'm nervous about them. She also bites on the knuckle of my thumb, and let me tell you, she bites HARD! Poor baby, I hope his teeth come in soon so he can get some relief.

The only thing I ever had work with my daughter was a cool, wet washrag. She hates the teething rings, and any OTC medicine did next to nothing. (We tried baby Tylenol when desperate, and it did help, but I wouldn't recommend it for a daily basis) Do you see any teeth poking through the gum at all? I know some babies can pre-teeth for months before they actually come in.
