always straining

my 6 week old seems to strain ALL the time! she even wakes herself up doing it.she farts A LOT and has recently started crying. she has 1 dirty nappy a day but ut seems the normal consistancy but it seems to hurt her. ive tried cooled boiled water, infacol but nothing, any help?

I'm assuming she's on formula? If so, constipation is very common in these due to the amount of iron and what not in them. Have you talked to her ped about it?
