i have tried feeding my rats a number of this such as carrots, apple, kiwi fruit, almonds, oats, sultanas, brocoli and cucumber. but the only things they seem to eat is bocoli and cucumber. i also have their special rat food 24/7. has anyone got any tips for me to get them eating more of a varity?
If they already have a food available made specifically for rats, then the diet is probably pretty decent. I give my rat extras like steamed broccoli, walnuts or small bits of apple as a treat. What type of rat food are you using? If it's just lab chow (those large nugget things) that's not enough. I use a mix that has various grains, nuts and seeds in it plus some small nugget treats. Don't worry if your rat doesn't like everything you offer.
