Changes during Metformin?

I was wondering what changes you experienced while taking metformin? I have been taking it for 6 months now, and my periods are still few and far between. I have not seen any change in my period....my average cycle length is 42 days. My fiance and I have been ttc for almost 6 months but are not having any luck. Did your periods become normal? I have lost 15 lbs since my diagnosis, and continue to lose weight. What is your experience with metformin??? I do know that my testosterone level is now normal, but nothing else seems to have changed.

I used to have cycles that were 75 days long, however with my PCOS I was not overweight, just is the high end of normal. I was on metformin for 5 months and my cycles finally got to 33 days. I started using the ovualtion testing strips and now have a 2 year old son. I went off BCP a couple months ago and it appears my PCOS is back because it has been 50 days since I had a period. I now have a cyst and in terrible pain, I will be going back on Metformin to help regualate my cycles again

Well I too take metformin, but I'm also on birth control so my cycles are a normal 28 days. I don't think metformin is suppose to help with regulating your period. I think it just helps with losing weight and reducing the symptoms of pcos. Has your doctor said anything about starting you on clomid to help with the ttc process? I've lost just over 58lbs since starting metformin on September 14.

well if you're losing weight you are still moving in the right direction.  The closer you get to a healthy weight the better your chances should be.
