Confused&Worried

I'm 16 and got diagnosed with PCOS about 2 months ago i haven't had my period since around the beginning of March this year 2012. My doctor hasn't given me anything to like help the menstrual cycle and i have heard that if the menstrual cycle doesn't happen it can effect the fertility percentage, is this true ??? I don't want children now but i do someday and i have already been told my percentage rate of naturally falling pregnant is very low same as my fertility =/

I was about that age when I developed pcos, but I didn't really take it seriously enough. I gained weight, which is the catch 22 of pcos... Helps you gain and then keeps you from losing. I had gastric bypass surgery and lost a lot of the weight and was able to conceive, but please try to not let your weight, if its a challenge, get out of hand. It took me a decade longer to conceive than I wanted. It's a big struggle, and one I hope you don't have to endure.

I have PCOS and am 6 weeks preggo- so don't worry. I did take some herbs that worked wonders in regulating my cycle and I think they made a huge difference in us being able to conceive quickly: saw palmetto, vitex, **** quai and licorice. Also, when you are ready for a baby, make sure your dr does blood draws to test hormone levels as you may need to take progesterone for the first trimester to prevent miscarriage

A low gl and lowish calorie diet worked brilliantly for me to reduce or eliminate all my symptoms. Find out the calorie needs for your age and height and look up gl diets before you try this. There is no negatives from gl diets that I've ever come across. You can find little books that have the gl and calorie count of every food to help you out.

The pcos diet book shows supplements, traditional and alternative treatments for every symptom.

I have followed this diet for fifteen years and my periods are regular and my symptoms are almost non existent. I also eat cinnamon, garlic, turmeric, cumin and take omega 3 fish oils and vitamins.

Hope this helps.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
HI,
The treatment of PCOS depends on age, symptoms and desire for child bearing. At the age of 16 years you can be left alone. When you feel the desire for children, the fertility can be evaluated. Women with PCOS can have a natural conception or if needed your Doctor can help you.
Take care and good luck.
