Do I have an ovarian cyst?

by jfelice27, Nov 04, 2009 08:37PM
I am 23 years old. My menstrual cycle is regular; 7 days, every month. Lately, the day before my cyle begins i get terrible cramps and the first it starts day I am loaded up with midol.I do not have any other irregularities or pains, though I do notice that the left side of my abdomen just below the belly button is a bit swollen compared to the right side. It is not painful or noticeable really. I also would like to mention that I suffer from alopecia areata only on the back of my head... could this all be related? Could the swollen area be my ovary and it has a cyst? Please advise!

It could very well be a cyst. Do you know if you ovulate each month? Sometimes having a cyst could make ovulation more painful, so thats why I was wondering. I would go to your doctor and get set up for an ultrasound. If you have a cyst, it will show. It does sound like that, or maybe Fibroids too.
