I'm New to this site. Can anyone help?

by Jeska16, Jan 29, 2009 06:38PM
Hi everyone. My name is Jessica. Yesterday I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. And I've been going through hell. The negative thoughts and mind tricks. I love my bf to death, but now I cant be around him and I feel miserable. I want to know if anyone is suffering the way I am. I want someone to talk to and to give me some encouragement and to ease my mind. I also want to know how anyone copes with this with their loved ones and if you have advice for me. Thanks =]

Why do you feel so miserable? Ive had pcos since 2007 maybe longer, and im ok with it. Im on bc pills and metformin for weight loss. Loss 40lbs so far. Are you on any meds? Having pcos is not the end of the world, millions of women have it and still have babies. Its not the worse thing you could have.

I'm confused why you are having a hard time dealing with this with your boyfriend?  Were you trying to have a baby or somehting?  What are your symptoms? PCOS isn't the end of the world.  Your boyfriend has nothing to do with it and shouldn't even be brought into it, unless he isn't supporting you or somehting.  Really honey, you will be ok.

your over reacting a little hun, pcos isnt the end of the world, some women have pcos and lead a perfectly normal life. there are worse things than pcos, i too have it but im fine about it.
i think you need to know a little more facts about it before you start getting yourself down about it.

I also Ihave PCOS and endrometrisis and have been living with it for about 6 years.  I understand how you feel.  You need to talk to your Boy Friend and tell him how your feeling.  It's not the end of the world at all.  I have my days and there are days were the pain is so bad I just lay around.  Your so young and you can never be cured, but you can have surgery to help the pain.  If you find your self more depressed than happy go see a specialist and talk to someone that can help.  Good Luck! You are still really young and that will work in your favor.

I know the feeling my bf doesn't really understand..he calls it Period Comes On Sometimes..lol. But I really be depressed about it sometimes. I have been ttc for awhile and it hasn't happened. Its extremely frustrating that I am NOT "normal" I mean who would have ever thought that I would be upset about NOT getting a period..go figure.

Did any of you get the Gardasil vaccination before your diagnosis of PCOS?

hey babe i have had PCO since i was 15 im now 22, i get awful pain with it when a cyst bursts and i used to worry about not getting pregnant etc until i fell pregnant in december (ive since miscarried) BUT!!! the point is i can get pregnant and i'm sure you can too. not quite sure why u feel so distant from your partner can u explain a little more? is it because you feel unsupported? The only thing i felt at the time with my ex b/f is i had let him down & i felt this again with my current boyfriend because both made it clear they wanted huge families! everything will be fine promise its not as bad as you think! look into this website it explains where it all comes from how to handle it etc ok?!

I have known that I had PCOS for about 9 years now, and it was a relief to find out that there really was something causing all my symptoms that had been going on for the previous 5 years. I was miserable because "why am I not normal" and no one really understands when you have a really, really heavy or long period, extreme PMS/cramps, or how it feels when your period is so irregular that it can skip 3 months. Not to mention all the other symptoms. I was embarassed and pushed my boyfriends away when symptoms got really irregular or bad. I guess I didn't feel comfortable talking about it, and thought they would not understand. The best advice came from my mom, who told me "You know, that negativity and depression IS NOT YOU! THAT'S JUST YOUR HORMONES - they're out of balance right now. Don't accept it (negativity & depression)because that is not who you are!"

But take the time to research and learn everything you can about PCOS - it helps you understand it logically and not just emotionally.  I did a lot of research on the internet and sort of diagnosed myself, brought a stack of pages I printed out and brought it to my GYN. I'm just glad that more doctors know about PCOS now.
