Losing weight w/Glucophage (Metformin)

I just wanted to let everyone know that at least for me Metformin really works for losing weight! I started at 206 lbs in the beginning of May & I've lost 28 lbs to date, 178 lbs now. I was never officially diagnosed w/pcos but the doc suspected it & prescribed Metformin. It has also helped with making my period more regular. I'm about to start exercising so hopefully the weight will really fall off soon! I think losing weight should make easier to get preggo too, fingers crossed!

ladies i am reading how you have lost weight which is really great, do you mind if i ask, have you changed your diet since starting on metformin?, is this how you've lost weight, i do notice my appetite has reduced however my weight has not dropped & im on it 10 days,850mg, for 1st week, then double the dose,  do you think when i increase my dose that my body will get used to it & i will in time need a higher dose or maybe this is when i will only notice weight loss.
sorry im just little impatient.
any thoughts welcome.
i have pco & irregular periods, also ttc.

I was prescribed 500mg of Metformin, but decided to lose the weight without the medication. I am however taking 1000mg of Cinnamon, which has helped curve my appetite and keep my blood sugar in check. I thought I'd note that Metformin itself does not help restore a regular menstrual cycle, but losing all of that weight and keeping your blood sugar and hormones in check helped. It sounds like you're having alo

Started metformin around Jan of this year, built up for 3 months or so. I have lost 20-25 lbs and had a period last month and a period this month- I wouldn't say I am regulated yet, but I seem to be on the right track for the first time! I am Dxd with PCOS, insulin resistance and hypothyroidism.
