Metformin advice

I started metformin about five weeks ago and the first four weeks weight was coming off fairly fast and this past week I haven't lost any, so my question is has anyone or is it frequent the Met will work briefly and then the weight loss will stop. I'm also just wanting to hear how much promblems people were having befor met and how much weight came off after and what amount of time did it take? Thanks for your guys help. I'd love any advice or incouraging stories.  :)

I am on 2000 mg a day 1000 in morning and then again at dinner.  I haven't had too bad side effects I've just had a bit a nausea. as for weight i've lost nine pounds. I haven't had a period yet, in the five weeks I've been taking it, and I'm not ttc though I'd just really like to see some weight loss results. I don't eat simple sugars, I only ever eat carbs from fruit vegetables and whole grains.

Hi, I am taking 1500mg Metformin a day, I think I may have lost about 5lbs, not much but I have only been taking it for about 2 mths, I also have cut down on mu sugar intake. no soda, candy anything that has alot of sugar in it, I feel better since I have stopped all that, I still have sugar in my diet but very little like gum which has little or no sugar, the body still needs it, but I did have some side effect when I first started it, but not too much now I take 1 in the morning and 2 at night , so that way if I get sick I would not know it cause Im sleeping!! anyway hope this helps..
Good luck to you!!!

I've been on metformin for 4 months, and haven't lost any weight- how many mg are you on? I take 1000mg/day. I haven't gained any weight either, which is good, but I wouldn't have minded a loss ;) We're ttc, so maybe it has something to do with the clomid. I've had some bad side effects to the metformin- I take one dose at night, with the idea of sleeping through it, but a few times I've woke up with nausea and gotten sick.  If I don't eat & drink with my morning dose, I get bad stomach cramps. Hope it's treating you okay!

It depends on your body. The first 10-15lbs comes off easy, then the weight slowly drops after that. Have you changed anything in your diet? I would say this is normal, as this would happen to a normal person not taking metformin. Losing weight super fast means it wont stay off, you need it slow and steady. So continue with it and you will see results again.
