Need more information about this disorder

Hi,

I have been diagnosised with this disorder for several years based on my symptoms. (Irregular periods, extra hair growth, over weight) But, I have never had any tests that I am aware of like a blood test.

I have a seizure disorder and my seizures seem to follow the cycles of my periods. I am on medication for them but they aren't controlled during these times of the month. I have 2 cycles a month, with one heavier than the other. I also have break through spotting throughout the month. I recently had a normal pap smear, ultrasound, and normal biopsy.

My geneocologist just put me on estrogen for 5 days to stop my periods, but so far it hasn't worked. I am to take a type of birth control to help adjust them. I am also overweight but have recently been losing weight. Does anyone else have seizures relating to this disorder and this type of irregular cycling? What are other complications related to this? Also, does anyone here have celiac disease?

You really need bloodwork to confirm the diagnosis,  you could have a problem with your adrenal gland that would cause the same symptoms, the only way to know is bloodwork because you already had a normal ultrasound.  I would be concerned that PCOS may not be you problem yes you have many symptoms of PCOS but adrenal hyperplasia mimics PCOS, and it could explain the seizures.  Seizure are NOT common with PCOS and if your doctor is ok with that diagnosis without bloodwork get a second opinion!!  it's also strange that she put you on estrogen without bloodwork high estrogen can cause excessive bleeding so you estrogen could be high and she gave you more....I'm not trying to scare you i just think that you should be informed, if i were you i would get a second opinion preferably from an RE (reproductive endocrinologist), they specialize in endocrine disorders so if it's your adrenal gland and not PCOS they can still help you.  good luck hun.

If you have ever had a vaginal ultrasound they can see if you have it that way. It does sound like you have all the symptoms of PCOS. But as far as the seizures I have never heard of anyone relating it to PCOS. PCOS can mess with your cycles. some people like myself dont even get a period or ovulate without meds. It can make it hard to get pregnate due to the absent ovulation. But if your having ovulation and periods you should be ok with getting pregnate. It is possible you need a higher dosage of estrogen to stop your cycles. Good luck and hope this helps.
