New to PCOS

by nessa1378, Oct 28, 2009 05:23PM
I am 31 and have been trying to conceive for two years. My husband and I have been through all of the tests (he has a low sperm count- 6.5 million).  We have done three IVFs and then I went to another doctor and she diagnosed me with PCOS.  I'm so frustrated to say the least that the other doctor did not recognized this and jsut did the same treatment for all of our fertility treatments.  Anyways, now I'm trying to understand if the PCOS is why I have abdominal pain throughout my cycle.  I do still have a period, it is only two days.  Am I still ovulating if I have a period?  Is the abdominal pain normal?  Is it normal to feel ovulation and have it hurt?  I have so many questions.  If any of you can help with any pertinent info I would really appreciate it.  Also, how does having PCOS change the fertility treatments?
Thanks!

Hi, I am 26 and was diagnosed with pcos about a year ago.  My fiance and I have been trying for two years. I do have some pains around ovulation. You don't have to ovulate to have a period.  My doctor prescribed metformin. Alot of women with pcos have a problem with insulin resistance. My doctor want to remove a cyst on my left ovary, check for blockages, and do an ovarian drilling to try and help ovulation. Did your doctor discuss any options with you?

Hi Shannon,
Thanks for the reply.  My doctor has not discussed anything yet, we are still in the testing period.  In fact I'm going today for a biopsy.  I have so many questions though.  Have you and your husband tried fertility treatments?

Hi Folks,
I'm 28 and recognized PCOS after 6 months of my married life. They have treated me and done IUI for 2 times already. First one was ecotopic pregnancy , 2nd is failed due to continuous travel. Now  its the 2 days of post IUI. I would like to share or know the symptoms if anybody is having the same.
