PCOS-- Years without a period and finally two back to back but extreme extreme pain

Hi,
Just asking for a little help here so I know how to help my wife with what she is dealing with.. Ever sense we have been together age 16 she was diagnosed with pcos.. She felt miserable with pills that she was put on so she did not go into to doctor on regular basis...  After years without having periods she begins to have two back to back months of periods for about a week.. But the pain she describes worries me to the point I think something bad is really going on... She lays in bed for four days now and she says she gets blood clots that drop from her area as if she is having a period and she says she is..  She says its cramps but describes them with great deal of pain noone could dare resist or imagine...  So she has been taking pain pills nonstop but thinks doctors would not be able to help her with this problem?  Is this true?  What can I do and what is the first step for me to take? Im worried and im out of home remedies here...   Recently she starting dieting and excercising so that is where I believe her periods starting coming back...   Someone.... Anyone...  HELP!!!!

She really needs to get into the doctor. Periods should not be that painful...I mean don't get me wrong, we all have those days where we feel like our ovaries are being twisted and pulled in every which way...but not all the time. Her periods probably returned because of the dieting and losing weight. If you guys aren't trying for a baby, I do suggest to get on birth control. I'm on Yasmin and love it. Never any problems with it and it made my periods less painful and less heavy. Also, since she knows she has pcos...I would suggest to talk to her gyn and maybe start on Metformin. This will help with weight loss and also the symptoms of pcos.

I have the same excruciating pain everytime I manage to have af, Lately the cramping has kept me off of work as well.  I take Toradol a prescription anti inflamatory and tylenol to help with mine.  Although it does not take it away completly it does help.  I also use the menstural pain heat patches, those are better then any heating pad any day of the week.  I hope for her sake she finds releif, try to find a PCOS Specialist, I don't know where you live  but I know there are a few GYNE's that specialize in it.  That was the only time I found proper help  Good Luck!!

Well I got on Yaz for a while.  It was a Godsend!!  I know exactly how she feels.  I've been off of Yaz for 2 years now and the pain is starting to come back with my period getting longer again and longer time between them.  I'm debating getting back on it.  She can talk to her gyn about it.
I also take perscription strength Ibuprofen during my cramping days.  And during that time of month when I ovulate I have the same excrutiating pain too.  I take the ibuprofen then too.  it helps.  Also there is Midol that helps with that, make sure she reads the box for the right pain relief.  Hot pads and warm baths and lots of curling up on the couch helps. lol.
But then when AF leaves it goes back to normal for a few weeks.
but check into Yaz first I think.  it was amazing.  While I was on Yaz (after it took effect 3 months into taking it) I had no pain at all!! Good luck!!  I hope she finds relief!!!
