PCOS, Period tracking and TTC

Hi there, was wondering if anyone could offer advice/guidance, I'm new to forums. I'm 27 diagnosed Pcos at 21 not immediately TTC but it's in our plans for the next 12-18 months, my friends have all used period trackers when conceiving so thought I'd give it a go but not sure if it will work for me due to the irregular bleeds. Gynaecologist commenced me on metformin last year and told me to go back for fertility treatment and since then I've bled lighter and more regularly but not the known 28 days more like once every 6-8 weeks and lasts for at least a week.

Has anyone had any success with metformin, we are planning to try in a year but have both said if it happens it happens so haven't taken precautions for the past 12 months either but nothing has happened... Therefore thought I'd give the tracking a go. Any help or advice you have would be great.

Thank you x
