PCOS and egg health

Hi All,

I was diagnosed with PCOS, and I went through ovarian drilling, now I take Clomophid on prescription. But I have not had much improvements for the past 2 months, as in my eggs do not mature enough for it to become fertile, I have a question, if the eggs do not become fertile, what happens to it?? first month I had an egg of about 10mm in one of my ovaries, and during the next month scan, there was a much smaller one for about 6mm.. what had happen to the first egg?? sorry to sound stupid, but i really would like to know what happens!!

Thanks in advance

I took follistim to help them mature and then pregnyl (HCG) to trigger ovulation.

Aww.. Thanks so much for your kind words!! I am so happy for you !! and all the best with your pregnancy!! I hope and pray I will get a mature follicle in months to come !! I am 33 now and I don't want to postpone having kids for long!! my Dr said if it doesn't work out I may have to go for a IVF, which is somewhat costly..anyway....what kind of injections did you take?? is it again to make your eggs mature??

yes it is very depressing, in three years of ttc I never had a mature follicle until after my ovarian drilling.  But the only drug that helped mine to mature was follistim.  It was great!! I ovulated with each cycle and on our 5th round of injections and follistim I was pregnant!  So if you look at it from another perspective out of 3.5 years of ttc I only ovulated 5 times so those odds are not so bad.  It's just the failure of the previous months that can be upsetting.  If you need anyone to talk to i'm here, I may be 10 weeks pregnant but I don't think i can ever forget how painful ttc was.

Hey Thanks!! but then my Dr only prescribed clomid after the 2nd day of my period!! :( I shall ask him and see!! thanks so much for your feedback!!!

It is very depressing when you find out your eggs don't mature and you got to try again the following month!!! Keeping my fingers crossed!! :)

if it doesn't mature or reabsorb it becomes a cyst.  Clomid can cause cysts if you just had ovarian drilling you really shouldn't be on it.  The 6mm could have been the 10mm and it just shrank.  Or it the 10mm reabsorbed and a new 6mm formed.
