PCOS

I have had PCOS for a long time since I was like 13.  I am to the point where I give up on trying to have a baby.  I have done everything but IUI and IVF and those cost money right...?  Even if you have insurance.  I see people with PCOs and there succes stories and it makes me wnat to throw up.  There is nothing else I can do.  I am a lost cause and no one around me knows how it feels to be me or how  I feel..  No one can say anything right to make me feel better.  I feel so unmotivated and depressed.  My  family either dosen't care, or says oh we'll keep this for wjen you get prego or when you gonna have one, I could just scream.  I don't know what else I can do for myself.   Sometimes I wonder what the man above is wanting me to do with my life or what he is waiting on.  I just found out that  a member of my family is getting an abortion because they are to young , but they already have one kid what the h*$l!   I know we all have our own rights but I would never do such a thing.  Some people are out there that want a baby and can't have one when others just waste away a miracle.  I am so sick of it all.

I spent 10000 to get pg with dd.. lost 100 lbs doing low carb and exercise and got pg first month without even trying.. loosing weight is the key... for pcos the way to loose weight is low carb.. I lost 100 in 7 months... a lot cheaper than fertility treatments and healthier for you

I am sorry. I know how you feel about the abortion. Some women take their fertility for granted. I know it is not my business, but have you considered adoption? I think that adoption is a beautiful thing and some of the best parents in the world are adoptive ones. Never listen to those who think your life is not "complete" or you are not "fulfilling your duties as a woman" by not having children. It is not that you don't want them, it is just not something you can do right now. I believe what makes a mother is having the love for a child whether or not they have even been born. I think women who have to really work hard to conceive make excellent mothers because they know to cherish it all. I hope all of the women on here trying to have a child have their wish granted because I think they deserve it.

I was diagnosed with PCOS at the age of 14, 10yrs ago. I embraced it tried, pills and diet to regulate my system.. nothing. Was told I had a 2% chance to naturally have kids. I let my dreams go of being a mom and let natur take its course, stopping all treament at age 18. I started working out at the age of 20, preparing for my 21st birthday. I wanted to feel great and look better. I had lost 40pounds and 4sizes. I looked awsome. After only 2months of working out I started my period Jan 1st. I then got it every 28days, missed it in April, it returned in May and then was never seen again... Because I got pregnant. SoI did have success conceiving accidently 6 moths after starting to work out.

My wonderful son is almost 3 now! His father was a jerk and wanted me to abort or give him up cause I once said I didnt want kids and wasnt ready for kids at that time. Now I play hell with his father for child support and custody. I will never give my son to him or leave him longer than 2days.

Now I am married to a wonderful man and we're trying for one of our own. No luck.
We've been trying for 6months with no pills and I have only had 2 cycles. No signs of Ovulation though. I am going to the DR on 1/15 and excited to ask ?'s to see what I can do now. I have a feeling she is going to tell me again my weight is the problem.

Good luck everyone.

Oh wow! You said it. I have been saying that exact same thing for almost two years since we started trying. It *****. You know I  lost wieght to get pregnant. But I couldn't do it on my own I had to have pills. But I was so motivated at the time cause the doc said it is because of your pcos loose 25lbs and it will be a quick conception. So I went to the gym started eating right felt like I was on top of the world untill it was time to try again. We have been tring for 7 months since I lost the wieght and for a little bit surprisingly I kept going to the gym. But I stopped cause I got depresed, and added 20lbs back on. Now we are on the second round of letrozole. Yipee! I feel bad for what I am putting my husband through. I tell him all the time that his wife is broken and it abviously can't be fixed. I don't think that I helped you much but at least there is someone that knows the hurt you are feeling. We will get through this.

The RE was covered my my insurance and I do not have fertility coverage.  But because he is an endocrinologist his office bills the insurance as endocrine disorder or pcos and i haven't seen a bill yet.  I definitely think you should look into an RE, my obgyn was mistreating me for over a year (found out through RE).  In fact the treatment i received from my OB without any monitoring is part of the reason my cysts are so bad.  There are specialists for a reason, very worth it.  As far as iui it is not covered by my insurance but my RE does it for $250 which isn't so bad.  And i'm not sure if you would need the trigger shot or not.  good luck!

Hi. Fertility coverage depends on your insurance. It is totally not covered with mine but I see others who have some degree of coverage with their insurance. You should check with your insurance company to see what your plan covers regarding fertility treatments. I hope that something works for you soon or that it happens when you were not even trying.

Hi there,

I hope my advice is goin to be helpful to you, i have suffered with pcos for about 13 years now, terrible periods sometimes not at all, i was with my partner for 4 years continously trying for a baby i had seen many specialists, been on metformin, clomid and more and nothing worked... everytime i tried to concieve it did not work i was upset and very stressed... at an appointment with my specialist she said the dreaded words to me... i am not going to concieve naturally and that my first round of ivf would be free, before that she decided to do some drilling on my ovaries... i went in just as a day case had the op 3 weeks later i found out i was 6 weeks pregnant!! while undergoing that operation i was carrying a child!! while not on any fertility meds id achieved what they said i wouldnt, i now have 2 beautiful healthy children a boy and a girl... it took me 4 years then 2 years and alot of tears, and proceedures and treatement.... but it is achievable.... i fell pregnant the 2 times i wasnt trying to concieve.

I hope this helps and has given you an insight i have a bad grade of pcos... my periods are still terrible and i actually feel my ovaries all the time in an odd feeling... any further help you may need or a general chat im happy to help you...

This is my first round on femara 2.5mg which doesn't seem like alot.  I go a couple days after christmas to see if I ovulated.  I  am just seeing my gynicologist as of now.  I like him but I am thinking I should see an RE.  What is the thought on that?  I don't feel that the femara worked this time.  You know how you just get the feeling.  Plus I took a prego test today and it was negative.  Which it could be to early to tell.  I go to the doctor on the 28th not that far from now, so don't you think if I was prego it should be showing up?  Who knows. Do you know if IUI is covered under insurance, probably not, I think it is an allective.  I wonder if RE's are covered.  I just hope this femara works.  Also, can you take it without a trigger shot, I am not taking one.  I need to ask my doctor about that.

I was reading some of your previous posts and I saw that you posted a question about femara vs. clomid and no one answered.  I'm going to start femara as soon as I get the okay at my post-op visit next week.  the way my RE explained it was that clomid tells your ovaries to mature follicles where femara tells them to mature one follice.  so us ladies with pcos when we are given clomid our cysts might get bigger instead of singling out a follicle to mature.  so for women with pcos femara is a better choice.  I have already taken five rounds of clomid with metformin and i did not ovulate.  did you take the femara yet?

Hi, I'm so sorry that your feeling depressed.  Do you mind if I ask what you have done so far in regards to ttc?  are you on metformin? Have you taken clomid?  Are you seeing a RE?  There are so many options for pcos have you had ovarian drilling yet?  I recently had that done as a last resort, maybe it's an option for you.  I hope you find something that works for you and if you can't get pregnant there is always adoption.  if you need anyone to talk to in the meantime i'm here.
