Pain after sex

So, my Dr. told me a couple of months ago that he thinks I have PCOS. Anyway,.After the past 4 times that my husband and I have had sex I have been experiencing pain and bloating in my abdomen...one time it lasted through the next day. I read that this could be a sign of ovarian cysts.. I also read that it could be air getting trapped in...has anyone ever experienced this? It's starting to scare me...thanks...

I chart my bbt, use opks during the day, my last cycle i bought i fertility monitor, i have a us on cd15 and then bloodwork.  i don't have much cm, so i don't check it.  I actually went for my cd15 us yesterday and i did not have any mature follicles. she ordered bloodwork to see if i missed it, she called me today and i did not ovulate, my estrogen is really low.  i'm going again on sat for another us to see if maybe i'm just taking longer to respond.  supposedly you can have a period without ovulating, i have never had a non med induced period.  I knew it would be hard, i never imagined i would be this emotional.. all the time.

Hi.. well, we've been ttc for 13 months...i've done 3 rounds of clomid thus far...thank you for the encouragement... this is not what we ever expected....to say the least....sorry to hear about your problems....by the way, how are you testing if you ovulate or not each month? with the ovulation strips? it's been strange recently b/c I have gotten my period on my own a couple of times, yet, I still don't think i'm ovulating.. is that possible? before that, I wasn't getting it at all on my own....

thanks so much.. you have been very helpful....I will go in next month and ask for the u.s of the lower abdomen and also ask about metformin....My Dr. has been giving me vaginal u.s. each time I've gone but not the other...I will get to the bottom of this soon I hope...it's all very frustrating and upsetting...are you ttc as well?

every doc is different just make sure you stand up for yourself, my first doc put me through three rounds of clomid with no u.s. and no bloodwork to monitor. after getting fed up and switching doc's my new doc did an ultrasound the first day i had 86 cysts!   i would talk to your doc and suggest an us to "check things out".  the worst they will say is no.  you can normally tell from u.s. of your lower abdomen (not vaginal) if you have endometriosis.  yes i am on 1500mg of metformin and have been for 8 weeks.  i'm also on 200mg prometrium to induce af.

remember be proactive! this is your life!

So, I had my last ultrasound in May...do you think I should go back and get another one soon? How do they test for endometriosis? Have you also taken Metformin? My dr. gave me prometrium to induce my periods..

Personally I would say the pain is probably from the cysts.  I get a lot of pain usually after I should have O'd and it makes sex quite uncomfortable.  Then I often feel crampy for a few days afterwards.  If you have PCOS you can get cysts with every cycle and they can cause pain.  If it is severe I would contact the doctor to be sure there isn't one that has not resolved itself and may need attention.

Your doctor hasen't put you on Metformin? That helps with trying to regulate your cycles. So you might wanna ask about that. How long ago was your last ultrasound?

Hi... actually we are ttc.. so I am not on birth control pills... my last ultrasound showed some cysts.. but nothing that the dr. was concerned about...the pain is more of a bloated, tender to the touch feeling in my abdomen

The only time when I have pain during sex, is if I didn't use the bathroom prior to having sex (it's a burning sensation afterwards) or when I had a yeast infection. You could very well have cysts on the ovaries, it is a common symptom of pcos. I for one do not have any cysts on my ovaries, but I do still have pcos. Ask your doctor about getting an ultrasound to determine if you have any cysts. Do you take any meds for your pcos? I take Metformin and bcp (birth control pills).
