Weight loss and PCOS

Hello I'm new to this forum. I was diagnosed with PCOS several years ago. I began gaining weight when I began my menstual cycle when I was 8 years old. I gained 70 pounds within 5 months and by the time I was 12 years old I was at 260 pounds. I am now 27 years old and at 368 pounds. I have tried everything to lose weight. I've been on Metformin for over 3 years now, eat a 1500 calorie, low carb diet, exercies, and nothing. I have had all kinds of tests ran my thyroid is normal so that is not an issue. I've been tested for Cushings all of those tests were normal. I've suffered from painful ovarian cysts, had several miscarriages, male hair growth on the face and chest, hair loss, depression, mood swings, high cholesterol, chronic anxiety, and high blood pressure. I have been told by an Enternal Medical Specialist that my only hope of losing weight is Gastric Bypass, which my insurance won't cover because I do not have diabetes. I don' t know what to do anymore. This weight is destroying me mentally, physically, and emotionally. Does anyone have any suggestions? Any advice is welcomed

I'm new to this forum. I can relate somewhat to what you said. I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 16. I had all the symptoms of PCOS weight gain, male hair growth on the face and my stomach. I began my menstual cycle when I was 8 years old. When I got my period it would go for a few days when it would I would go like three months without having one. My period became irregular. So my doctor decided i would best for me to go on birth control. But because i was so bad with remembering to take it i to get depost injections every three months. I put on alot of weight.  I had a doctor who was dealing with my PCOS I had to her about the information i had found on metformin to see if that would help me but she wouldnt put on it. So I went and saw another who final decided to put me on metformin. I am also insulin resistanced. Before going on metformin my weight was 277. I was put on metformin seven months ago and things have changed alot for me I dont eat as much as I use too. I take 500 mg twice a day. I take at lunch and dinner. The weight seem to just fall off without me really doing anything like execrise. Before I was tested for being insulin resistanced I craved sugary foods like candy. I would buy bags and bags of candy, but once i started metformin all those cravings stopped. Instead of the craving for sugar i started craving for fruit. I have lost 40 lbs in seven months. I went from 277 to 240. My goal is i want to loose at least 80 lbs if possible. I want to get down to what i weight when i was in high which was 198.

Have you tried changing up your diet? What kind of exercies do you do? I've been on Metformin for now a year and with only watching my eat intake and trying to stay active I've lost 50+lbs. I would suggest to change your diet. Try eating 5 small meals a day and walk for atleast 30-60 mins a day. Also, eat different things everyday. Dont keep one thing the same. Eat fruits and veggies. I dont beleive in the Gastric Bypass surgery. There is a woman I work with who got it and ended up gaining most of the weight back. I also dont beleive in the low carb diet as I dont like diest that refaine you from eating certain food groups. I suggest you change uo your diet and see how that goes.
