What are your symptoms of PCOS??

Has anyone that has PCOS and/or is Insulin Resistant have the following symptoms??  Once in a while I get a really bad stomach ache, it's a burning sensation in the pit of my stomach and I get very bloated and also get back pains.  One time I had it so bad that I also had vomitting.  It can last anywhere from 1 day to 3 days.  I've been getting this lately and I have had all sorts of tests done and everything comes back negative.  Blood tests, Ultrasounds, CT Scans, MRI, you name it!  So I was wondering if anyone else with PCOS has had anything like this.  My latest conclusion is that it could be related to my Insulin Resistance since I've noticed that the last few times it has happened to me the day after I drink alcohol. Thanks!

Well, I have IBS as well as PCOS and Hypothyroidism and I have to say, what you're describing is exactly how I get when the IBS acts up.

Have either of you considered celiac disease or IBS? Just a thought.

I either get severe cramping in my lower stomach and sometimes even upper thighs with it, or muscle aching in my upper stomach, or acidy feelings later at night.  It's hard to describe.  not to be gross, but I can literally be in the bathroom 8 or 9 times in a day in pain from that.  Believe me, I'm not the healthiest eater by any means, but I've just found that the fiber really makes a difference.
It can also hit me as early as 45 minutes to an hour after eating, and usually lasts through the night and the next day or two.

Thanks.... I will try to eat better and see if that helps!  I have noticed that when I get the episodes of this stomach thing I have been eating a lot of fatty foods the day before and drinking.  So it could very well be the food and not the alcohol.

I have a few other questions... what does your stomach ache feel like??  How long does it usually last you?  And how fast do you get it after eating those foods??

Thanks so much!

any fast food, even subway, red meats on occasion do it, any heavy spices.  oh, and any kind of pizza except homemade.  Rice, pasta and corn kinda do my tummy in as well.  Stay away from whole wheat, it's not high fiber.  You want whole grain.  I buy a kind with 6g fiber per slice which is kinda hard to find but worth it.  Fiber one makes a good cereal too.
hope that helps.

Hi!  Thanks so much for answering my post!

Actually I think I eat plenty of fiber.  I usually will eat whole wheat breads, pasta, etc.  And I eat a good amount of veggies.  What are some of the foods that you eat that will make your stomach act up??

Hi!  Thanks so much for answering my post!

I just have a few questions regarding what you wrote.  Did you have stones in your gallbladder?  I have a co-worker that keeps telling me the same thing... that it has to be my gallbladder but I didn't think it was since they've done ultrasounds and the sort of my gallbladder and haven't seen anything abnormal.  So you think it's possible that it is but they just haven't found it because they haven't done the right procedures??  I have not had an EGD nor a HIDA scan and they have not put me on Protonix or Nexxium.  The gastro just put me on Aciphex a few months ago but I don't think its the right things for me since I still get the stomach aches.  What is a HIDA scan?  Sorry for so many questions... I'm so frustrated!!! :(

I don't drink, and my gallbladder is fine, but I will throw this out to you:
how's your fiber?  I know that sounds silly, but due to my PCOS and thyroid condition, if I eat crappy, i get stomach cramps, bloating, and have vomited.  It was at the point where my endocrinologist was questioning if I had IBS or Crohns disease.  Usually, if I eat high fiber I'm ok, but if I put something in my belly that's high GI, i'm outta luck for a couple days.  Try some fiber one if you don't like high fiber foods or cereals.
Although, sometimes the biscuits and gravy are worth it.... :)

Have they checked your gallbladder. I was only 20 when I had mine out. Alcohol triggered attacks for me. My daughter who is now 20 also had to have hers out as well. I think she also has PCO. I do think however you should have an EGD done. That is where they go down your throat with a camera. Have they even put you on anything like Protonix or Nexxium?  Have you had a HIDA scan done? That would really check out your gallbadder. They just don't think to check someone as young as you. They wouldn't listen to me when my daughter ended up in the ER. Never did any testing and she was back in the ER a couple of weeks later due to obstructive pancreatitis. She was in the hospital for 4 days because they wouldn't believe me. Anyway, best of luck to you!
