could my test of been takin to early

good morning everyone. ive been diagnosed my pcos years ago and all its doing is getting worse. my dr put me on provera to start me then on clomid 50mg day 5-9. i finally ovulated on day 17 and had sexy like i was told every other day. my dr did a pregnany test on the 17th day after the ovulation and it came back neg. do u think it could of been to early. with my daughter i did the same thing but they watched the egg through the ultrasound and my test was neg. then 3 months later i found out i was pregnant.so what do u think should i retest or start over again?

with my daughter it was a blood test that i took also and it was neg. thats y im confused

If it was a blood test, I would believe it if it is 17 days after ovulation.  On the other hand, if it was a urine test, I'd double-check it with a early-results home test with first morning urine, just so you are comfortable that the negative was true.
