Hi, I was 22 when I conceived. I was on metformin 1500mg for 6 months which helped me lose weight (25 pounds) and I got pregnant naturally which I believe is due to metformin and the weight loss because I had been trying for almost 2 years with no success. Yes metformin is not easy to take, I have a very very hard time with it, many side effects and I even took it durring my first trimester along with my bad morning sickness (never missing a dose) now that is dedication! I also worried alot about what if I could never concieve and its the worst thing you can do. Stress wont help your body ovulate or do what it needs to. The month I got pregnant I was very relaxed I was starting the process of doing treatments so I had to get some blood work done prior to starting and was just waiting for that. And to my surprise my body ovulated on its own and I actually conceived. I am now 33 weeks along. There is so much sucess stories with pcos, especially at our age! So please stay positive and know that your odds are really not that bad!
Hi there! First off I am not a success story, yet. But, I wanted to give you some encouragement. I am 24 years old, married for 3 1/2 years, never used protection and still haven't gotten pregnant. However there is hope!! You said do it naturally, not sure if you mean with absolutely no meds or just without iui or ivf? Many women who have pcos take metformin and that will help get their bodies back on track. It can help with the hormone imbalance and insulin resistance which causes the excess hair, irregular periods, high testosterone, weight gain and so on and so on. If you haven't been taking metformin, talk to your doctor about it and recommend yourself the EX (extended release) it will help with the tummy issues. I have a good friend who couldn't get pregnant because of the pcos, finally did then lost it. Her doctor started her on metformin and no other fertility treatment and she was pregnant within 3 months. Now she has 2 healthy full term babies and had no trouble getting pregnant with her second one. Talk to your doctor about metformin and how you can prepare now for a baby later. I personally have male factor infertility too so we have to do fertility treatment. IUI to be specific, we are starting the process now and I will soon find out if we can do the iui this cycle. There is hope so don't get discouraged!
