The longest I've been late was 2weeks and that was 1 time. can I be pregnant? How long should it take me to conceive on that dose of metformin?

my doc told me and i researched it. metformin does not only control ur insulin levels it is also a fertility med but even though it helps with fertility ur doc may give an additional fertility drug if u have had no succcess getting pregnant with metformin. u shud also keep in mind that  blood test is way more fool proof than a urine test so if AF hasn't *** already a doc visit may be in store. good luck!! u can drop me a message if u have any questions, i will try to help.

Metformin is not meant to help you ovulate. If your not getting a period, your doctor would have to give you something like Provera to jump start it, and then maybe something like Clomid to help induce ovulation. I don't know why everyone thinks metformin will make you ovulate, because it doesn't. It will help with weight loss, if you start dieting, but other then that it wont help you ovulate. Metformin is known to be given to women who have pcos. I too take 500mg 2X since Jan 2009, but im also on the pill too. While taking metformin which I started in September 2008, I have lost 49lbs so far. I would call your doctor to see why your period is late, and maybe see if you can get a blood test done to check for pregnancy. If ur not pregnant, then most likly you need Provera to jump start ur period, and if ur not ovulating then u need Clomid or another type of drug. Metformin alone, will not help to make u ovulate.
