Child Abuse & Witnessing A Murder= PTSD

by BatgrlBegins, Sep 15, 2009 06:35PM
Background:
- sexually abused by at least 4 male family members (recall of 3 has been recent)
- witnessed a murder (neighbor) 4 years ago
- lawyer of 15 years stole and sold my ip projects
- moved 5 x in 3 years
- attacked by several bats while asleep last year

Rx.:

- prior to the murder, I was on 5mg. of Ambien at night
- for the past 3 months, my therapist has me on 2 mgs. of Knlopin and 20 mgs. of Ambien a night

Question:

I stopped taking the Klonopin cold turkey two nights ago.  I do not want to be addicted to a benzo.  Th einsomnia I suspect will be with me forever although I would like to get the dosage back down.  My current symptoms are anxiety and paranoia.

Was this a wise thing to do?  (My therapist is away.)  If not, should I just begin back on the Klonopin?
