Pregnant and very depressed. HELP!
Hi. Im 5 months pregnant and lately i started to feel very depressed and anxious. I had trouble with depression/anxiety for almost 10 years. I went to see a psychiatrist and she told me to use a natural drug which contain Valerian root( i rode it shouldnt use during pregnacy) and she told me to take Xanax only when i need it. I have bad intrusive thoughts. Im so scared, sad, anxious and panicking a lot :(
What should i do to calm myself?

Thats not postpartum depression, thats the worst part youll go through but i do agree Depression, being it anytime cant b dealt easily and during pregnacy its even harder but noone else can pull you it if you yourself dont want to. Try to control your thoughts and for that i bow my head down on the ground and yell and cry my heart out and when im done i feel much better thats very helpful to me and it is better to take out your frustration to the ground than on anyone else. Your relations stay secure your anger comes out your negativity leaves you. Try doing it and try to relax because there is so much more ahead to be happy for

Hi! I myself have battled with depression and anxiety with two pregnancy and my babies arent a year apart.....but i kept my self occupied with walking every other day just making sure i didn't just stay in side....make sure to get out as much as possible i know your prolly sleepy and not up to it but surround yourself with people a nd dont be afraid to let them know im dealing with this.....i read sometimes i think i over read because i feared everything with my first child....i still hve fears with rhe second but i have a inspirational playlist i put on every morning and just remind myself of how blessed and awesome i am to have made a whole living little person who will need me.....bottom line you are not alone in your situation but dont give in to those thoughts of negativity think about how much you want to be the example for you little person...i am praying for your encouragement

Here is the thing, you feel this way when pregnant, you need to be very mindful that this could get worse once the baby is born (which is post partum depression).  You need to tell your doctor if that happens right away as medication at that time is very important.  So, your doctor is giving you what they feel is okay for you to take. Do you do anything like deep breathing (breath in for 4, out for 4, hold 2, repeat)?  This is supposed to have a calming affect and studies have shown it really does help.  Psychiatrists recommend this. Doctors will also look at your personal situation.  Some women DO go on antidepressants (true, and not natural herbs--  which you should be very careful with as these are unstudied in any scientific way to really know the affect) --  doctors will look at the risk of the depression/anxiety compared to side effect risks and if the risk of the untreated condition is worse, they'll choose the safest medication to give.  Be very honest with your doctor about how you are feeling.  And again, watch for an increase in this once baby is born which is when many women DO have post partum.  good luck and come back and let us know how you are doing!!  hugs
