How long does it take to get pregnant?

I had sex 6 days ago and last night I was very nauseous and had a lot of pain in my lower abdomen.

Ovulation, which is when it is possible to get pregnant, occurs an average of 15 days before the missed period. If you happen to have sex while you are ovulating, it will take longer than 6 days to be able to tell if you are pregnant. The best home pregnancy tests can tell you 5 days before the missed period, but with only about 20-30% accuracy. The accuracy increases the closer you test to the missed period.
