I want to conceive after removing IUD was placed 10yrs ago?

I have two children already and when I got the IUD placed I know that I didn't want any more kids for a while. So here I am with the IUD still in place after 10 yrs. Now my husband and I were talking about having another baby after gettin the IUD removed soon.
But I'm scaried that I may not be able to get pregnant after have the IUD or just having any kind of problems with becoming pregnant.
So what I want to know is if any one has had the IUD removed after so long and has gotten pregnant? Have long  till you got pregnant? And if you had any problems with the pregnancy?

Hi there, I see the last time you had posted about trying to get pregnant after having your IUD for 10 years has been about four years ago. Were you ever able to conceive? If so how long did it take? Did you experience any problems? Any miscarriages? And at that time what was your age? I recently got my Mirina IUD removed on August 7... then on August 11 I had a very light cycle. My husband and I tried this month for a baby, now today is September 10 and it's been 31 days since my cycle ended and a negative pregnancy test this morning, I am getting concerned about what might be going on? I had my IUD's in for a total of 7 yrs, I read some horror stories about infertility and delayed cycles and things like that. If anybody could weigh in on being able to get pregnant after having an IUD in for a long time I would really appreciate it. :-) This would be baby number 3 for us if we can get pregnant. We have an 11-year-old son and an 8-year-old daughter. Loves of my life! We had them young and now I am 34 & we want to have another baby.... Funny how growing up changes things...;) a Thx!

I know it's been over 3 months since your last post, but I thought I would reply nonetheless.  I did have troubles conceiving after having a copper IUD for 8 years.  They couldn't conclude that the IUD had anything to do with it, but considering I got pregnant before that with no problems, I had my doubts.  I am happy to report that I am now 17 weeks pregnant, but we did not conceive naturally.  After 2.5 years of a combination of fertility drugs and trying the old fashioned way, we decided to have an IUI (with no fertility drugs).  It worked the first time!  As for cysts, they only mentioned that I had a "possible cyst" on my right ovary.  Not sure what that meant, but it hasn't been causing me any problems.  Hope that gives you some kind of hope.

I had a copper IUD in place for 9.5 years. Had it inserted 9/11/2001 and removed it 1/03/2011. I have been trying to get pregnant ever since. My periods are 90% regular Its been a year now trying to get pregnant and it is not happening. I saw a doctor and was told that I have 2 medium size ovarian cyst on my right ovary, but that should not prevent me from getting pregnant all lab work are fine, I have a 11 year old son and my husband has a daughter and we got married 2 years ago and I have been trying to conceive. Has anyone gotten pregnant after having a copper IUD removed or is having problems like me. Please reply. Thanks in advance

After a abortion in 2006. I decided to give the iud a try. It's been 4 1/2 years now. I have been experiencing cramping now. Ever as I writing this. I went to the drs. Today. And he could not find my string. On top of all that I have a yeast infection. I have to go back next week so they can further investigate what going on. I think I could be pregnant. My period are only a few days. Sometimes not at all. I'm wishing for the best. But I want this out asap.

I had one pregnancy in 1999.  In 2001 I had an IUD (Copper) inserted and it was removed in Aug. 09.  My partner and I have been TTC since Nov. 09 with no luck.  Before the IUD was taken out my cycles were normal (28 days - always!).  Now they vary (26 - 36 days).  My Dr. insists that my irregular cycles cannot be from the IUD removal as the Copper does not affect your hormone levels, but it's too much of a coincidence for that to be true.  So, I don't know what type of IUD you had for 10 years, but it's possible it may take a while before you are able to conceive.  I see your post was in January 2010 - any luck since then?

I had the Mirena for 9 years after 3 children. They are now 21, 12 and 10 and I am 13weeks pregnant, I had the Mirena removed in October 2009, and pregnant in Feb 2010. I am 41 and my husband (2 marriage) is 34. All looks good in this pregnancy and we are hoping for a son, as we have all girfls!!   Don't give up hope, and good luck!!!!

I had Mirena for a while and had it removed in March of 2009 because of a bacterial infection that would not go away.  I switched to the pill for a while and stopped taking that in September.  I was pregnant in December.  So for me it was 9 months after removal of the IUD, but I was on the pill for 6 months of that and was not actively trying to get pregnant.
