I was thinking, if I do buy one, I'll have to get a wooden one and then buy my own cushions or make them because normally any type of chair hurts my back. Like the rocking chair we bought with my daughter that I never used for either kid, is extremely padded, and my husband loves it, however 5 minutes after sitting in the chair I feel like I just lifted 500 lbs and have a broken back! It's like my husband like soft beds, and I'd rather sleep on a wood floor, flat on my back. It's weird.
We are getting a rocking chair, but I want a cushy one this time for in the nursery. One that I can fall asleep in. Not too bulky, but I want it all padded. I think it would be better than just a wooden one or a glider.
Babydreams9- Was yours passed down from a Grandma or Grandpa? I love those creaking sounds, it's peaceful and brings memories from when I was really little!! :)
The weird thing is, the only things I need are diapers for this baby LOL...I saved everything from my daughter and son. I really think my husband wants a new rocking chair to use and he is using this as an excuse LOL!!
And we're buying a big costco pack of diapers, and wipes a week. So I'm getting stocked up! The one I was looking at, I glanced through babies r us online, and walmart etc...I found a cute one that was like $70.
I already as it is, can't sit too long because of my back problems, so maybe I can get one and get a back massager thing to slide over it, lmao then i'll use it all the time, hehe!
Anyone else have pros or cons?
I use my rocking chair daily with my son; he loves it. It occasionally puts him to sleep, but mostly it just calms him down if he's fussy. I put it in the corner of his nursery with a night light nearby, and a noise machine (plays nature sounds) and an air purifier (makes a nice humming sound)... it's a super relaxing little corner and he really likes it. Our rocking chair is about 60 years old though and makes a neat creaking sound, and I think that's a huge part of what he likes - the repetative sound. It's a nice alternative to a stationary sitting position, which my little guy gets really bored with really easily. If you're on the fence about it, you may want to consider buying a used rocking chair via Craigs List or garage sale.....
Use the money for something else!
Ziggy~I was pretty much thinking that, but also I had the thought that, with those two I had an upstairs and downstairs, bedrooms were upstairs, and now I have a single story house and figured if anything, If I got it could stick it in the living room, lol but I think my kids would get more use out of it LOL!! Oh what you said made sense to me.
I would say save the money for something else. Since you had one that you didnt use with either kid, I dont think you would use it now. I know at least for me, with my thrid baby, I am doing things that I had done with the other 2 in terms of feeding them and getting them to sleep, because thats what i know and am comfortable doing...I also had a rocking chair for my 1st that I didnt use. Does what im saying make sense? lol..in simpler terms my advice is:
You probably dont need the chair because you aleady have a way you did things with the other 2, and when you have this one you will more then likely settle back into the routine you had wit the other 2, and hat didint include the chair
