10 Weeks Pregnant & Acid Reflux

I have been experiencing acid reflux pretty bad these past few days. The back of my throat burns terribly. I have had all day long nausea and vomiting so I'm sure that doesn't help with the build up of acid. I try and eat small frequent meals and drink lots of water (although I can't keep anything down) and I sleep on my left side with my head elevated. Nothing seems to be helping much. Are there any safe medications to treat this while pregnant?

i have severe nausea this preg as well...i started dry heaving and literally gagging before throwing up...its been awful...i told my doc about it and she gave me a prescription for zofran...its safe to take while preg...my experience with it is that it doesnt take the nausea completely away but it makes it more bearable

best of luck to you

Wow this is my 4th pregnancy and I have NEVER had heartburn so early!! I thought I was the only one having heartburn. With my other pregnancys I used to eat tums. I have also not been able to keep anything down. Im now 11 weeks and have felt pretty good for the last couple days, but im afraid to say that too much. Good luck and I hope you start feelin better real soon!!!!

I have had sever indigestion since about week 7 with sharp pains in my stomach and heartburn. Tums and Mylanta did not work so my Dr ok'd Zantac. I would ask your Dr if you can take that.

I have been given permission by my doctor to take tums anytime. When they stopped working she told me to get the Gaviscon Pills and to chew two and then swallow then followed by water. They work ok too. I also find that drinking milk and eating dairy will help - although you may not be able to due to inability to keep food down. Try not to drink beverages when you eat - this is what my nutritionist told me - she said that is one reason I was vomiting so much. Feel better hun!

I used to literally keep a bottle of Mylanta by my bedside and take swigs of it at night.  That's how bad my indegestion was during pregnancy.  Those and tums are ok, but for me the Mylanta worked better.

Try the peppermint tums.  They may help with you nausea too (a little).  I never to a prescription antacid medication, but I had a friend that did.  So I know there are safe ones out there.  I would speak with your doc about it.  But tums are super safe and loaded with calcium.

I Think tums is ok, but I'd call your dr's office and ask what kind of anti-acid you can take.
