10 days of bleeding

I have been bleeding for about 10 days, nothing too heavy, just enough to be annoying. My doctor thinks that I may be pregnant and I am waiting on the results of my blood tests. Until last night, I have been taking my birth control because I did not think that I was pregnant. Does anyone know if this would cause me to bleed if I am in fact pregnant. It's just starting to worry me but I have heard that bleeding early in pregnancy occurs in 20-30% of women. I'm just looking for information because I am a little confused

I am so annoyed, the doctor still hasn't called... I called them and left a message about two hours ago... Does it usually take this long to hear back? Both my doctor's office and the lab told me I would hear by this morning at the latest!

so i just took another test, and it was negative... sooo that's what I'm assuming for the evening. I'll post tomorrow if my doctor ever decides to call with my test results... either way, does anyone know what would cause this bleeding?

Well I took a hpt earlier,it looked like a veeeerrry (i mean verrrry, almost not visible) negative, but I clearly messed it up because the box that is the "control" had no line, indicating the test wasn't valid. My friend is bringing me another one later. I've had a few cramps but nothing serious. I'm not supposed to get my period until this weekend though so it shouldn't be from that yet. I'm done taking my pills, I stopped last night. I never thought that I would be pregnant because I wouldn't have expected the bleeding to last so long! I called the doctor mainly just because it was getting annoying as I said. I'm just anxious because I got blood taken yesterday and they didn't call today with the results, so now I have to wait until tomorrow!! Also I was thinking that If I am pregnant, maybe the pills were causing the bleeding??

I bled 9 days when i was about 5 weeks pregnant or so. Well first i bled for a few days then a week later went to 9 days straight, i had a sub chrionic hemorage which is what alot of pregnant women have. It usually resolves itself. Last year i had alot of spotting and long periods of bleeding and it turned out to be a ectopic. Are you crampy? I would get an ultrasound to look at that and stop taking birth control. I know birth control does funny things like that too. Just take a cheap test.

Have you taken a home pregnancy test?  That "might" give you an idea of whether you are pregnant or not while you are waiting for your blood tests although the blood tests will be definitive.  And yes, about 25% of women bleed during early pregnancy but only half of those women go on to have a viable pregnancy - the other half unfortunately end in miscarriage.  Yes, you can still bleed while on the pill and if pregnant - not common but it can happen.    I hope things turn out for you.
